Description
These Trucks are a faithful reproduction of the famous Carter Brothers – Swing Motion Trucks, used by many American narrow-gauge railroads on and around the West Coast. These trucks date from the late 1870’s up and thru the early 1900’s.
They have wood transoms, bolsters, and spring planks. They were made to be swing motion trucks, meaning that the bolster beam and spring assembly were suspended from metal hanger straps, to allow it to move with the car body independently from the rest of the truck. This was intended to provide a better riding truck. They were used by almost if not all west coast narrow gauge railroads at that time in our history.
